The objective of this paper is not to review the pros and cons of deposit insurance systems, but to focus, rather narrowly, on the recent adoption of a deposit insurance system (DIS) in Russia, the rationale offered, and the potential impact it might have on the stability and development of the Russian banking system.
- Remittances : transaction costs, determinants, and informal flows

The authors find that the stock of migrants in OECD countries is the primary determinant of remittances. In addition, money transfer fees and the presence of dual exchange rates reduce the share of remittances reported in national accounts. In turn, transaction costs are systematically related to concentration in the banking sector, lack of financial depth, and exchange rate volatility.
- Credit Risk in the Czech Economy

This paper deals with credit risk in the Czech aggregate economy. It follows structural Merton's approach. A latent factor model is employed within this framework. Estimation of this model can help to understand relation between credit risk and macroeconomic indicators.
