As Nursultan Nazarbayev and Hu Jintao Shake Hands, Uncertainties Linger
This paper focuses on the talks between Nursultan Nazarbayev and Chinese leader Hu Jintao held on 23 December 2006. Although the author believes that the widespread feeling of euphoria around the Beijing trip of Nazarbayev is diluted by mounting Sinophobia in Kazakhstan, officially, the event was characterized as “a breakthrough” in bilateral relations.
