IDIS Viitorul—study on decentralization launched

IDIS Viitorul launched a study aimed at estimating the effects of decentralization on August 7, 2008. The study will point out the necessity of strengthening the role of the Administrative Oversight Regional Bodies that would positively effect cooperation between the national and local government bodies.

IDIS Viitorul—study on legislative reforms released

IDIS Viitorul released a study on the institutional reforms in the area of legislation on August 14, 2008. The study supposes that the capacity of public authorities are limited to implement those reforms, thus impeding institutional reforms in the country.

A journal by IES in the prestigious database

The AUCO Czech Economic Review is a journal being published by IES. It was accepted to be enlisted in a prestigious economics database EconLit by the American Economic Association. The journal will appear in the database by the end of 2008.

On May 14, 2008 ICEG European Center held an annual conference on “Growth Patterns and Capital Formation in the Eastern EU Member States” in Brussels. The conference focused on special features and roots of growth from capital investments and formation in the EU Eastern member states in comparison with the rest of the EU countries. The presentations analysed the dynamics and composition of FDI inflows and outflows, impacts of FDI inflows, the relocation of FDI, industrial structure of investments, credit growth and investment booms.
