CASE—World Governance Assessment for the Kyrgyz Republic published

CASE-Kyrgyzstan has published the results of the World Governance Assessment for the Kyrgyz Republic. According to the report the Kyrgyz domestic stakeholders appeared to be critical on current situation and the dynamics of change in governance in the country assigning to the current governance quality a score of 2.32 on the scale from 1 (very low quality) to 5 (excellent quality).

Accelerated Training Program

IDIS Viitorul launches its Accelerated Training Program for the local public officials of the Central Region of Moldova, within the technical framework provided by the UNDP Moldova. The training is aimed at capacity building of the local councilors in various issues regarding the legislation on local governments, principles and decision-making institutions regulating the local and sub-national governments, local finances, ownership and local public services.

CASE - Increasing Transparency in Moldova

A team of experts from CASE and CASE Moldova organized workshops for local government officials in Chisinau, Moldova from 1st through 11th October. This is the first event out of series planned activities in the project, which aims to build the capacity of local governance through increasing the transparency of local budgets. A three day study tour to Poland took place in mid-October, during which Moldovan local government representatives learnt about the process of budget planning in similar local governments in Poland. This portion of the project is sponsored by CEI – Central European Initiative. The trainings are planned to be tested during real public budget hearings that will take place in selected communities in Moldova. The project description and evaluation are planned to be disseminated throughout Moldova, particularly in small rural communities.
