CER—Business Forum organized

CER/UNDP Public Finance Reform Project, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, UNDP Business Forum of Uzbekistan Project co-hosted an expert council meeting on New Tax Code of Uzbekistan: Ways for Improvement on June 6, 2008.

At the moment the Uzbek Government has been undertaking comprehensive monitoring and effectiveness analysis of the New Tax Code that took effect on January 1, 2008. The expert council meeting was arranged to assist the implementation of the monitoring, discuss the norms and provisions of the Tax Code with all stakeholders in order to exclude existing ambiguities and contradictions in the legislation. By the end of the meeting specific recommendations to improve the norms and provisions of the Tax Code were drafted, which will be submitted for review to the special interagency group.

The officials of Oliy Majlis, Cabinet of Ministers, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, State Tax Committee, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of private sector and international organizations as well as taxation and tax administration experts attended the meeting.
