CASE—Conference on energy issues in CIS

CASE has finished the implementation of "The Economic Aspects of the Energy Sector in CIS Countries" project for European Commission’s DG ECFIN and co-hosted a workshop to present the results of the project on Jun 27, 2008. The workshop was held at the EC Delegation premises in Moscow. The topics covered include key macroeconomic issues related to energy sector functioning in CIS, the role of CIS for the EU energy supply, and strategies and policy options for the energy sector development in the CIS region. The project was implemented from August 2007 to April 2008 and covered diverse macroeconomic issues of the energy sector in CIS countries. Besides, the project assessed the challenges to fiscal, monetary, and exchange rate policies associated with a high share of energy in the economy. It also covered selected aspects of EU-CIS energy relations, looking at the potential of the CIS region as a source of energy supplies for the EU and at energy policy options in the CIS.
