IET—Scientific seminar “Institutional Restrictions and Economic Growth”
On March 20, 2008, IET held a seminar on the above mentioned title to discuss the results of opinion polls conducted by the IET market study unit among industrial enterprises in Russia. The poll was aimed to find out from the managers of the industrial enterprises the obstacles in successful economic development of their enterprises. The opinion poll posed two groups of questions, which were related to the evaluation of, first, the interference level of the government in decision-making process in the enterprises, and, second, the dynamics of various factors able to restrict further production growth. The results of the poll indicated that the types of obstacles, at least for medium and large enterprises has noticeable changes for the last 2-3 years. Major obstacles at the moment appear to be related to the shortage of energy resources and manpower.
